4 out of 5 stars Almost great!   July 14, 2010

I have seen reviews about these breaking when put through the dishwasher, etc. I have had good luck so far. I poor boiling water into it for tea almost daily. It does seem a little thin and feels like it could break, but it hasn't so far.

The lid (as other reviews state) does not seal, they don't claim it does and for what I use it for it's ok. However if it did, it would be awesome, why do none of these types of pitcher seal? I have looked all over.

Would get 5 stars if it sealed and was made of thicker glass.

4 out of 5 stars Great pitcher, cheesy cap!   July 13, 2010

I've been looking for a pitcher that could:
* fit into my refrigerator door
* take hot liquids

This one is perfect on both accounts. I can use it to house iced tea (when cooling), and it's small enough to fit the fridge door.

My only complaint is the cap, which doesn't fit very well and is of fairly poor quality.

1 out of 5 stars It leaks   July 12, 2010
Gregg Tavares (San Francisco, CA USA)
I bought 2 of these recently and sadly, when pouring, the water or tea or whatever I put in them dibbles down the front of the pitcher and on to the counter.

If you know something better please respond. Requirements 1.5 quarts or large, rectangular so they take less room in refrigerator, made from glass, have lid.

4 out of 5 stars Lid good for water, not the best for juice   July 4, 2010

I ordered this size with the handle for use with frozen concentrated orange juice. The size is perfect for frozen OJ and the handle is handy, but the lid does not seal, so shaking the orange juice to mix it before pouring results in spillage. Fortunately I found the 2-liter size at Wa1mart (in the Beverage Container section, not the Food Storage section) with a lid that is very similar, same size and general design, only it seals around the inside of the bottle neck, and has no spout or vent hole, so the lid is water-tight and must be removed in order to pour. I simply switched lids, putting the "pourable" lid that came with this pitcher on the 2-liter pitcher, which I am using for ice water, and putting the sealable lid on this jar, so that I can now shake my orange juice. I would still recommend holding on the the lid, just a precaution so that the sloshing OJ does not blow the lid out of the pitcher.

5 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for!   June 25, 2010

This is exactly the type of pitcher that I was searching for. I actually purchased two for rotation. They are small enough, so they don't take up too much room in the refrigerator, but yet large enough for several glasses of cold water. I especially appreciate the fact that they are made of glass, which was exactly what I was looking for. If you pour too quickly, they will leak a little (so, just slow down a bit). These pitchers are great!!!
